IPL, short for Intense Pulsed Light, uses filtered broadband light technology to selectively heat specific targets (hair chromophores) in the skin. Depending on the wavelength chosen, the target chromophore can be melanin or hemoglobin. In this way, pigmentation, spider webs, and hair follicles can be broken down and destroyed into tiny particles without harming the surrounding normal skin.
